This band, originally formed by bassist Henry
Heillig in 1997, is celebrating the release of a new CD ‘Toons, the first recording since 2004. Heillig is best known as
co-founder and musical director of Manteca, a group which Heillig recently left
in order to re-launch the Manoeuvre.
Heillig describes the repertoire as “friendly jazz,
more songbook than doctoral thesis”.
His Manoeuvre mates are:
Alison Young, sax; Stacie McGregor, piano; Charlie
Cooley, drums.
